Weatherford Announces New FracAdvisor Services Offering

HOUSTON, Tex. -- Weatherford International plc today introduced its new FracAdvisor service offering for the oil and gas industry. FracAdvisor provides near real-time guidance to operators for optimized completion designs, reduced operational risks and increased efficiency of hydraulic fracturing operations.

Well production variances and operational time constraints demand an integrated solution based on the reservoir’s unique characteristics. Through FracAdvisor, Weatherford provides guidance to operators on how to optimally complete a well by accurately incorporating various reservoir and completion attributes, such as the effect of anisotropy in organic shale reservoirs. FracAdvisor incorporates proprietary algorithms that weight specific attributes according to the specific play, well, or lateral.

“FracAdvisor provides operators with a thorough understanding of the subsurface, especially the reservoir and completion qualities, mitigating challenges in well-to-well production variation in unconventionals,” said Matt Vanderfeen, vice-president of Petroleum Consulting and Laboratories for Weatherford. “The service offers calculated fracability along horizontal or vertical wellbores, or in fields, or basins.”

Weatherford is an Irish-based, multinational oilfield service company. It is one of the largest global providers of innovative solutions, technology and services for the drilling and production sectors of the oil and gas industry.
