WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. President Obama and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau today announced a comprehensive set of agreements to work together to expand clean energy, reduce methane emissions and protect the Arctic.

The following is a statement by Bob Keefe, executive director of E2, a national, nonpartisan group of business leaders who advocate for policies that are good for the economy and good for the environment.

“The global market for clean energy is growing by leaps and bounds. Working with our closest and largest trading partner to develop and expand clean energy only makes sense in a world where neither pollution nor commerce knows borders.

“Reducing methane leaks that waste money and resources and hurt our planet is just a no-brainer. And just as standards for cleaning up power plants is now driving innovation in clean energy, setting common-sense standards for methane will drive innovation the oil and gas industry.”
